Mawwaige....mawwaige is wot bwings us togethew today....

My sister got hitched. In January. And wanted outdoor. pictures. But, I survived. I will give her, while the weather was January in Kansas, it was a beautiful wedding.

The church was already decorated for Christmas, so we didn't have to do anything in that regard. And it was gorgeous. She was married in the church we grew up in and where she still attends, and serves as a member of Parish Council. The poinsettia trees in the back, the colors, the atmosphere....simple gorgeous.

She was pretty, too.
Her colors were wine and grey. She carried my rosary, one that I got at World Youth Day in Denver and that was blessed by Pope John Paul II as her "borrowed". Her dress was amazing, and her attendants were darling. Mallory was one of her flower girls, her soon-to-be niece via marriage her other one. Grace was a stunning bridesmaid. But it's not hard to be stunning when you're young, tall, slender and have a goodness and kindness that shines through your otherwise beautiful smile. Yeah, I don't like that kid much, can you tell. ;) I lucked out in the bonus-kid department, but that's another post for another time.
Darling little flower girls, Brita and Mallory.

The reception was fun, too. Probably would have been even more fun if I hadn't been helping to set it up until 3am the day of the wedding, but one thing we do extremely well in my family is procrastinate. Extremely well.

The venue for the reception was awesome. The historic building that once housed Junction City's public library is the perfect place for a reception, party, get together....so vintage, the perfect size, and other than having to cart everything in, it was glorious.

Mica had a coffee bar, an open bar around the corner, a kids korner with neat activities, and a table of games for folks to play if they didn't want to dance. Pretty cool ideas....probably in large part thanks to Pinterest. How did we ever plan weddings without Pinterest??

It was, overall, a wonderful weekend. Even though we got hit with an ice storm that night. It made for a great pic in the snowy street, but also made getting home the next day treacherous.

 And Shrek started that day....
